The goal of our boater and water safety classroom kits is to educate children and their families about the importance of boater and water safety each year.  By incorporating our program into your classroom, you are making this happen.

Day 1- Introduction 

​Discussion

  • Teachers can discuss the cover with students and ask if anyone can make any observations. (Example: Life Jackets)

​

  • Begin the introduction of life jackets with the secret message on page 2. Preface the activity with a discussion about nautical flags. Display Nautical Flag Link

  • Continue the discussion of the importance of life jackets on page 3. Display Life Jacket Link.

Additional Activities

  • Students can research all of the nautical flags and their meanings.

​

  • Students can create a poster with different types of life jackets. (Make sure they are the most current and approved types.)

​

  • Students can research the different laws regarding life jackets in every state.

​

  • Students can spell their names with nautical flags.

​
